Getting ready ...

For my first stall at our local bi weekly community market on the 23rd July.  It's a bit of a leap of faith, putting myself out there and I've chosen to collaborate with a lovely lady who currently sells my cards and art in her shop. Hopefully the combination of art, cards, lovely smellies, hurricane lamps, vases etc etc will entice a few folk to visit the stall and hopefully generate some sales for us both.

So I've been busy framing limited edition prints and building up my stock of cards in preparation. I'm relying of some of my more popular cards plus I've created a couple of new ranges over the last fortnight.

Cactusill
Lino tree

I've been intending to draw and paint cactus for a while and after being inspired by stamps from the Woodware Craft Collection I finally got around to it.  Originally created for my daughters birthday, Cactusill includes the middle section from my watercolour Plasencia for the view outside the window.  I have since created another version with another watercolour - this time an unnamed view from our recent travels in Croatian - and the cactus are appearing on quite a few other cards at the moment.

The second new range I am referring to as my eco range.  These are being printed onto 100% recycled card and, to date, they only depict copies of my original linocut prints.  As I've only ever done two linocuts the range is a little limited at the moment 😆 but I'm going to 'launch' them on market day.  All of my cards are printed onto FCS approved cardstock but in the past I've not found white recycled cardstock that holds its crease neatly without cracking or blowing out.  For my Eco range I'm not using white and they're fine so its possible that the process has improved - I will have to try again.

Right, I need to be off to see if I can create a third linocut before next weekend !!

Hello and welcome

A glimpse into my studio -  Hello there! It's taken me a while but I've finally started work on my online presence to accompany my creative journey.  To be honest this post is pretty much a place holder whilst I work on constructing the galleries and links to my online shop.  For a while it will remain the top blog post and I'll update it as I go along. Hopefully when all the construction work is completed the blog posts will be used to reflect where I'm at creatively and share some of my experiences. I have started work on my online shop (hosted by Sum-Up)  Eventually you'll find pages for cards, limited editions, originals and a full gallery listed at the top of my Home page.  These will detail the art work that is available and will provide a link to that item in the shop. If you'd like to just go straight to the shop then please follow this link here . I've no idea how many folk I'm likely to reach but hopefully it will be fun finding out, and please...

Our House

I had a little session in the studio a couple of days ago with the main aim of producing a birthday card for one of our grand daughters'.  That session proved to be successful and the outcome was both the required card and a new one for my 5 x 7 range (which I have already printed out and used for an 18th birthday card too)   As a result of this session I do also have a small series of acrylic paintings that I've played around with in a digital mock up in order to test how best to frame them.  I'm really liking how they might look.  Not sure whether to stick with black frames or try white and oak - we shall see.  Firstly though, I need to cut the mounts  accurately which is always a challenge. I'm intending to make these two originals available from Walkmill @no 7 over the next week or so, always presuming I can cut the mounts correctly of course. Thanks for reading Wendy xx

It's always nice when .....

It's always nice to make a sale, or two as is the case this week, which is an absolutely fantastic feeling - especially after a small hiatus .  Firstly, one of the affordable art prints sold in Rebel Vintage, closely followed by a little original hand painted print in Walkmill @no7.  I have replaced both but annoyingly I keep forgetting to take photos (or scans) of the originals before I send them off.  Helen has very kindly sent me a photo of 'Summer' in situ.  This is the new little hand painted print that she now has in stock. Summer 1/1 HPP - £18 Sadly I don't think I have a photo of the previous one that sold to share with you.  They are both a linocut print that has then been hand painted in watercolours before being mounted and then framed in these gorgeous dinky black wood frames.   This was my second carving of our spring trip and I really enjoyed being able to carve whilst on the road.  I only packed a cheap black relief p...
